About
At Hearts Animal Sanctuary, Arena now stands in the sunshine — calm, gentle, and finally safe. But that was not always her life. Arena was born to a 28-year-old mare — a mother far too old to be carrying a baby. From the very beginning, her little life was fragile. At just five months old, she was ripped away from her mother. She was shut inside a stable with a half door. She couldn’t see other horses. She couldn’t see her mum. She couldn’t understand why she was alone. She panicked. In fear and confusion, she tried to escape. She jumped the half door. As she went over, she smashed her knee on the wood and struck her head hard on the beam above. The impact left her concussed for 15 long minutes. She lay there — a baby — motionless. And the man responsible said: “If she dies, she dies. It’s one less to feed.” One less to feed. That was Arena’s value. We couldn’t leave her there. We took Arena and her mother away that day. Her mother was already worn down by years of hardship, and a couple of years later, we sadly lost her. But Arena survived. She survived neglect. She survived fear. She survived being treated as disposable. Today, she runs in her paddock, She has friends. She is loved. She is safe. But rescue doesn’t end with one horse. We have 5 other and a Donkey. There are more Arenas out there right now — frightened, alone, unseen. At Hearts Animal Sanctuary, we rely entirely on donations to provide: • Food • Veterinary care • Farrier treatments • Bedding • Shelter • Emergency rescues Without donations, horses like Arena don’t get a second chance. If Arena’s life matters to you… If you believe no baby should be “one less to feed”… Please donate today. Every single euro. Every single pound. Every single share. It all helps us save the next life. ❤️🐴
