About

Kiko’s Story – From Passed Around to Finally Home Kiko is a tiny Yorkshire Terrier with a big personality… and an even bigger past. Before he was three years old, Kiko had already lived in ten different homes. Ten. Passed from pillow to post. From sofa to sofa. From one promise of “forever” to another goodbye. Each time the story was the same… “He won’t settle.” “He’s nippy.” “He’s not what we expected.” One person kept him just 24 hours before sending him back because he “wasn’t settled.” But how does a little dog settle when he doesn’t know if he’s staying? How does he learn to trust when every door closes behind him? When Kiko came to us at three years old, he wasn’t “bad.” He was confused. He was defensive. He was tired of being left behind. Yes, he’s had a few nips over the years. That’s Kiko. That’s his nature. A tiny dog who learned early in life that the world wasn’t always kind. But what he really needed wasn’t another house. He needed a home. He needed consistency. Patience. Understanding. Someone who wouldn’t give up when it got inconvenient. Kiko is now 14 years old. Eleven years of stability. Eleven years of knowing he isn’t going anywhere. Eleven years of being loved exactly as he is. And that’s what rescue is about. Not perfection. Not convenience. Not “easy” dogs. It’s about commitment. It’s about seeing past behaviour and asking why. It’s about giving them the forever they should have had from the start. Some animals don’t need fixing. They just need someone who won’t walk away. Kiko found that. And we will always be his last home. 🐾❤️
